No-Bake Dough Recipe

Ingredients:
          3 1/2 cups flour
          1 1/2 cups corn starch
          1/2 cup salt
          1 1/2 cups very hot water
          1 T glycerin or petroleum jelly (Vaseline)

Instructions:
· Mix flour and corn starch.
· In a separate bowl, combine water, salt and glycerin until salt is dissolved.
· Add flour and corn starch mixture to liquid mixture, mix until it will hold its shape.
· Form into a ball, then knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth.  Place dough in a plastic bag to prevent drying.
· Mold or sculpt ornaments from the dough.  Use water as glue when connecting or braiding pieces.
· Insert an ornament hook for hanging or thread a narrow ribbon through while the dough is still pliable.
· Let dry 2-3 hours before adding decorations or painting.  Seal with a clear spray acrylic.

Classic Salt Dough Ornament Recipe

Ingredients:
          · 2 cups flour
          · 1 cup salt
          · 1 cup water or coffee (for gingerbread colored ornaments)
          · Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:
· Mix salt and flour.
· Add in half the water or coffee and food coloring if used.  Mix.  Gradually add the remaining liquid.
· Knead until the dough is smooth, this takes about 10 minutes.
· For flat ornaments dust the dough with flour and roll out about ¼" thick on baking paper (parchment).  Cut out shapes with cookie cutters or a knife and template.  Use a drinking straw to make a hole for hanging.  Or be creative and make sculpted shapes (Snowmen, wreaths, etc.) These will take longer to bake.
· Add details to the ornaments with a toothpick, pop sickle stick, knife, skewer or any other 'tool'.
· Bake at 325 degrees F for  1½ hours - or until dry.  Time varies based on thickness of ornament.
· Cool the baked ornaments completely before decorating with acrylic paints, and glued on beads, buttons, etc.
· Use a clear acrylic sealer when everything is dry.
Cinnamon Dough Recipe (1)
Ingredients:
          2 cups flour
          1 cup salt
          5 tsp. cinnamon
          3/4 to 1 cup water

Instructions:
· Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.
· Stir in water gradually to make dough.  Adjust water and flour if dough crumbles or is too sticky.
· Knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth. And chill for 30 minutes.
· Roll chilled dough to desired thickness - from ¼ - ½" thick.  (Thickness determines baking time.)
· Use any cookie cutter shapes you like.  (Animals, gingerbread people, wreaths, diamonds, circles, Santa, sleighs,  etc.)
· Use a drinking straw to make a hole so you can hang the ornament.
· Bake at 325 degrees for 1½ hours or until dry; time varies with thickness (check after: 45 minutes to an hour).
· Cool completely before decorating.
· Paint with acrylic paints and glue on google eyes, buttons, ribbons, hats and scarves or any fun accessory your imagination comes up with.
· Preserve with a coating of clear acrylic varnish when everything is dry

Cinnamon Dough Recipe (2) No-Bake
Ingredients:
          1½ cups ground cinnamon
          1 cup applesauce
          ¼ cup white school glue - like Elmer's

Directions:
· Mix cinnamon, applesauce, and glue in a bowl.  The mixture should be the consistency of cookie dough.  Add water as needed if it's too dry.
· Knead dough for 5-10 minutes, place in bowl, cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying, and let rest for 30-45 minutes.
· Knead dough again until it's smooth.
· Roll out dough between waxed paper about 1/8" to ¼" thick.
· Use cookie cutters or a knife and template to create holiday shapes.
· Pierce with a drinking straw to make a hole for hanging.
· Place ornaments on wax paper to dry. It will take from 3 to 5 days depending on humidity.  Turn ornaments over a often to prevent curling of the edges. Ornaments will shrink some during drying.
· Decorate when completely dry and seal with spray acrylic.
Cinnamon Spice Craft Dough (3)
Ingredients:
          1 cup apple sauce
          1 cup cinnamon
          1 teaspoon nutmeg
          1 teaspoon cloves
Mix until the dough has the consistency of playdough, adding more apple sauce or cinnamon as needed.
Dust the countertop and rolling pin with cinnamon to prevent sticking.  Roll the dough about ¼" thick.
Cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Use a drinking straw to make a hole for hanging.
Dry at room temperature for about a week, turning over at the end of the third day to ensure even drying. As an alternative, to speed up the process, use your food dehydrator to dry the ornaments.  You'll love the scent.
